Trade Planning

TradingView RR Planner

The best trades are planned before the candle moves. TradingView's Risk-Reward tools allow you to visually map out your thesis, ensuring you only take setups where the potential reward outweighs the risk.

Problems it solves

Poor Reward-to-Risk Ratios

Identify 'bad' trades where you're risking $10 to make $5 before you press the buy button.

Emotional Trading

By defining your exit points (stop-loss and take-profit) visually, you're less likely to move them during the heat of the trade.

Visual Alignment

See exactly where your setup fails or succeeds relative to support and resistance levels on the chart.

How to use correctly

1. Open any crypto chart on TradingView.

2. Select the 'Long Position' or 'Short Position' tool from the left sidebar.

3. Click on your entry price, then drag the red area to your stop-loss and the green area to your target.

4. Check the 'Risk/Reward Ratio' in the center of the tool. Professionals typically look for 1:2 or higher.

5. Double-click the tool to input your account size and risk percentage to see the exact quantity you should trade.

Limitations

  • Visual planning does not guarantee execution at those prices.
  • Does not account for fees or slippage in the RR calculation by default.
  • Requires manual entry of these levels into your exchange terminal.

Best For

Technical analysts and discretionary traders who want to maintain high discipline and ensure every trade fits their risk profile.
