Leverage Safety

BitMEX Liquidation Checker

Leverage is a double-edged sword. BitMEX popularized the perpetual swap, but it also made 'REKT' a household term. Use this checker to find your survival price before the market finds it for you.

Problems it solves

Avoid Instant REKT

Calculate your liquidation price BEFORE entering a trade to ensure you have enough 'breathing room' for volatility.

Margin Planning

Understand how much additional margin (collateral) you need to add to lower your liquidation price during a squeeze.

Cross vs Isolated Margin

Visualize the difference in liquidation levels between these two margin modes for better risk control.

How to use correctly

1. Select your asset (e.g., XBT/USD) and your position type (Long or Short).

2. Enter your quantity and entry price.

3. Input your chosen leverage (e.g., 5x, 10x, 25x).

4. Note the 'Liquidation Price'—this is the price at which your maintenance margin is exhausted and your position is closed by the exchange.

Limitations

  • Exchanges often use 'Mark Price' for liquidation, which can differ from the last traded price.
  • Cascade liquidations can cause slippage that exceeds your estimated levels.
  • Exchange rules regarding 'Auto-Deleveraging' (ADL) can affect high-leverage positions.

Best For

Active futures and margin traders who use leverage and want to maintain a safe distance from their liquidation threshold.
